Fingerprint Login

How to enable authentication using your computer's fingerprint reader.

Enable fingerprint login for your user account

  1. Open the Zorin Menu → Settings.
  2. In the left sidebar of the Settings app, navigate to the “Users” panel.
  3. Press the “Unlock” button in the top-right corner. Unlock User settings
  4. Click on the “Fingerprint login” button for your account.
  5. Enroll your fingerprint(s).

If Fingerprint login isn’t available

If the “Fingerprint login” button doesn’t appear for you in the Users settings panel, please try following these steps:

  1. Open the Zorin Menu → Utilities → Terminal.

  2. Enter this command:

    sudo pam-auth-update

  3. Highlight the “Fingerprint authentication” item in the list and press the Space key to enable it.

  4. Press Tab to highlight the “<Ok>” option and press Enter.

  5. Restart your computer to apply this change.

  6. Follow the instructions above to enable Fingerprint login for your user account.
